For those of you who have read the book, I want to start a discussion about what Ancient Pact says to YOU.
I'm also curious about what you would say if you were telling a friend or co-worker about it.
Caryn
For me, the best part is that the story is about strong women. There are some fantastic spiritual stories out there, but so few are about women. I felt like I could relax and enjoy a story about someone like me... at last!!!
Also, the four lesson are very appropriate for my life right now. Are you going to publish a journal or something for those of us who want to take the learning to a deeper level?
Susan H. From Portland
Oh, my GODDESS!!! This book is exactly what I needed when I needed it. I've already read it twice.
Therese James
I have only one complaint. Where are the other books. How soon can we expect them?
Susan, you hit upon one of the reasons that I wrote Ancient Pact. I was STARVING for more stories about believable women on a spiritual quest for balance.
So, I wrote the story that had been on my mind for about a dozen years.
Therese, thank you very much for your kind words.
Anonymous, I'll go on retreat and hopefully write the remaining tales as soon as I can! Besides, I'm so happy that is your only complaint!
Susan,
I'm sorry that I missed your question regarding a journal/workbook.
YES! I am planning to write a journal/workbook for each of the Volumes. My plan is to have Vol 1 ready for release Fall 2006.
Also, I am developing workshops around the "lessons".
With my long range vision, I see week-long residential workshops in a natural setting featuring healthy foods, meditation, yoga, and activities that challenge stale belief systems... all to connect with the Spirit we are.
I want to help people "Remember What You Are."
Thank you Sandy (Amberella Beardragon) for your wonderful words of encouragement and connection! Your retreat center sounds fantastic and yes, I too, would like to encourage like-minded people to gather together with the intention of growing & learning. I'm already planning retreats for next year and will definitely talk to you about your location!
On another note, how odd that a different Sandy posted on the other line of this blog. I've been noticing certain names keep popping up with regards to this book. I've met three powerful Jennifers, two Sandys, five Susans (and I don't think that includes the one who posted here) and several Karens/Carolyns. Hmmmmmm
I saw you on the Daybreak show in Reno. At first I didn't know whether to write to you or not. I looked at your website and decided I must read your book.
That we have lived before is obvious to me and I'm just happy you have the courage to talk about it. I can't wait to read your book.
Linda (I'm an accountant too)
Mostly I liked that no religions were bashed. The author seemed to be asking me to question that God is a man and that women are devalued in most (all?) religions. Even Catholics (I was one) claim that Mary is the mother of God yet how many popes have denied women key leadership roles--and always will by official decree. Why do they fear or hate us so? Do they really think we aren't smart enough or spiritual enough? That is one of the many reasons I left them after many years.
I think some churches would really embrace this book and the concepts Collgan is writing about. Have you tried Religious Science or Unity churches? Unitarian?
Irregardless, I am doing more thinking about religion and women after reading this book. I think that is a good thing--? Are you coming to Lawrence, Kansas any time soon?
Dear Anonymous from Lawrence Kansas,
You raise many important questions about the cultural and religious bias toward women.
RE: Catholic church: fear or hate women... I don't think they deny women key roles in the episcopacy due to "hate." However, I believe fear plays a significant role. Domination & control depends on denying power to the target group(s).
"Do they think we aren't smart enough? Spiritual enough?"
On the contrary, I believe men-in-power KNOW that women are very smart and inherently spiritual. My goal is to develop workshops to explore these very issues and encourage women and men to devise more harmonious ways of treating one another.
The churches you list as possible supporters of my books are definitely under consideration. Thank you for the suggestions.
I hope to make it to your area one day. Currently my publicists are setting up venues in Seattle, Portland, San Francisco, Chicago, Denver and St. Louis.
Thank you so very much for writing. I hope to meet you one day.
Dear Amberella,
Thank you so much for purchasing so many copies of Ancient Pact!!
I'm sure readers will enjoy exploring the link to your retreat. I'll definitely look into it.
Caryn has created a modern fusion of spirituality, life lessons, and truths into a wonderful piece of work. I felt I was following in Caryn's foot steps as I moved from page to page. The relevance of her message is not just for women, but for anyone that is open to a deeper understanding of spirituality and what it means to all walks of life.
Each of you honors me deeply by taking the time to post your comments. Thank you. May all beings be happy and enjoy an AMAZING New Year.
I'll be updating my website for the book club questions some of you have requested. Please see: www.caryncolgan.com/club.htm
